I bumped into someone that I haven’t
seen in awhile. After a bit of how-have-you-been chit-chat, she shared how pleased she has been watching me grow in my Chamber
role. This touched me, because I believe this person doesn’t hand out compliments she doesn’t truly mean.
We continued visiting, when I shared how impressed
I was with another community leader, someone she didn’t know very well. She told me, “If you think he is a good
guy, then I think so, too.”
simple statement was perhaps the most genuine, honest compliment I have ever received because it told me she believed in my
integrity and opinion. Getting recognition for doing something of quality is flattering. Having someone acknowledge
you as being someone of quality is humbling.
