I just completed my first annual review, prepared by the Chamber Board of Directors. While I am pleased the evaluation
was positive, that isn't the purpose of this blog.

I'm pleased overall because I received great feedback - and
not all feedback was rosy. Everything shared, whether difficult to swallow or not, was fair, genuine and accurate; I also
believe all suggestions are intended to polish me professionally.
Being told of areas I don't succeed in are tough
to hear, and I am sure others feel the same way. However, giving the advice that is meant to help another isn't always
easy to do either. Because I have been on both sides (giving and getting the evaluation), I respect the process (and feedback)
even more when all truths are presented.

It seems like just yesterday, I was celebrating the year's two most popular "Eve's" - that is, the nights before
Christmas and New Year's. Here I am now, though, recognizing my most important Eve yet: the Eve of my work anniversary.
Tomorrow, January 10, is my One Year Anniversary serving as the Executive Director at the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce.
A friend asked me today if I still liked my job. I told him I didn't. Nope, I LOVE my job. For the first time in my career,
I have found my calling, my passion. I've been fortunate to have past jobs I enjoyed greatly, but this is the first one which
all earlier positions have prepared me.
Early on, someone advised me to "enjoy the honeymoon now because
it won't last." Well, here's to another year-long "Energizer" honeymoon that keeps going...and going...and
